LOVE POEM II

My hand is long and lonely,

  My heart, as wide as night;

My god is myth and miracle,

My soul is dark and light.

I am a part of people

And if I had the key,

A space for all the human race

  Lies locked inside of me.

You may be whole or heartless,

  Demonic or divine,

If I could understand your heart,

I'd know that it was mine.

Oh, bring me not your dark, dark wine,

And bring me not your gold,

But let us sit upon the world

And talk till we grow old.

And when our age is over

And the great world slips our sight,

Let us dissolve ourselves in strength,

And joy, and earth, and light.
